Joplin Public Library Summer Scholastic Chess


 

June 7th, 2025
 

Location: JPL Conference Room

Schedule:

Tournament Basics Presentation: 9:30-10:30 am, introduction for those who haven't played a tournament before or need a refresher

Simultaneous Exhibition: 10:30-11:30 Local player, plays multiple opponents at once
 

Break: 11:30-12pm

Late registration: 12-12:50

Rounds: 1pm-4:30, each round paired as soon as possible after the previous round

Tournament format:

  • Game in 25, delay 3 (each player gets 25 minutes for all their moves, with 3 second delay each move)
  • Sections: K-12 and K-8. Sections may be combined for pairing purposes
  • Prizes: K-12 and K-8, top-2 finishers in each group given awards
  • All games played under US Chess tournament regulations. One 1/2 point bye available if requested before the beginning of round 2

 
 

Registration: No entry fee. Advance registration requested, please include name and grade of the player; on site registrations from 9-10 am (for morning events); late registration for tournament only 12:00-12:50pm
